i am such a ding-bat i forgot that i went to the warhol retrospective at gagosian over the break. i don't have too much to say other than it was freakin' huge! the space, the work, the foot traffic. anyway, here's some pics i took...
I love the pictures.. thank you.. I love images.. I too saw an Andy Warhol exhbition at the Art Gallery of Ontario..It was curated by David Cronemberg the film director.... So it was a lot of work that inclded the relationship of sex and violence.
AS for artists and their relationship with money..???? I know I want my cake and eat it too.. I love design, architecture and Art.. i love my lifestyle which includes travel, and great food... and fantastic friends. I think though that one has to face the fact that we are in the world..in the system...so if that is the case.. what parts can I take and what parts can I choose to be a part of on my terms.. How can I take my values and imput them in this areana. This is about being...not just about being an artist. Maybe that is the question...? How do we identify who we are???? and what we believe in ?? How do we live a the life that we want?? I think these questions are not about artists but about everyone..in our realm....
thanks penelope. i'll try to take a bunch when i am in nyc over spring break too. i agree with your viewpoint on being an artist. you just gotta be who you are and find people and venues that you jive with and who help cultivate your creativity. :)
